Bunny Costume - October 20, 2006

There is a slim to zilch chance I can get into the Playboy Mansion Halloween party. There is a chance, but its an itty bitty one, so I'm making backup plans. I just got this email from a friend (Yes he is actually psychic):

oh, you must get a halloween costume together, we are going to one of my friends parties on the 28th. He's a computer genius millionare turned goth/fetishist (lots of people with good costumes and people in fetish gear). I, and some others perform tarot readings every year (after the clock turns back). Apparently Ive changed peoples lives from my readings there... it must be the abundance of absinthe. Im going as a hyper wizard..

He's not bullshitting either. I just went to an all-night concert in the forest with him and a bunch of witches and wizards (good, good blog entry coming up). So I have to get an apropriate halloween costume together involving gothness. But what is gothness? I know it involves lots of black. Does being a whore have anything to do with it? I'm super good at acting like a whore, but I don't dress like one very well at all. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Also, I've never done Absinthe, and I'm wondering...does that count as a drug? Isn't just a really, really naughty liquor? Oh say its just a naughty liquor.

Absinthe, you'll be pleased to hear, is a liquor. As explained in Wikipedia:

"Although it is sometimes incorrectly called a liqueur, absinthe is not bottled with added sugar and is therefore classified as a liquor or spirit."

By the way, if you dress as a whore for Halloween, you HAVE to post the pics on the blog - I think that's only fair.

No American absinthe is a drug. Naughty liquor, yes. Your friends sound like people who could get hold of the real stuff, though. Be easy with that - it will rock you right off your cerebellum. So much fun once you get over the weird flavor.

oh, absinthe... makes you do funny things. best way to take an ansinthe shot (learned this during my study abroad program):
1) pour a shot
2) dip a spoonful of sugar into the shot glass and take it back out
3) light the sugar on fire until it carmelizes
4) stir the carmelized sugar into the shot
5) hold your nose and drink it down
two or three of these and you're good for the night.

I had the real stuff in Amsterdam when I was there in August. I don't remember that night at all (but I did wake up fully clothed. Hooray!) So... drink wisely.

When one of my friends came back from Amsterdam, he smuggled a bottle with him. We did shots. It didn't do anything for me. Very disappointing :(

Absinthe is not a drug, it is a very naughty liquor. While the hallucinogenic effect is more due to additives in certain bottles than anything else, it's notable for giving you this incredibly clear drunk. I.e. you might be ragingingly, horrifyingly drunk, but you won't get that fuzzy feeling at all. You will, however, likely want to have sex with everything and anything in sight. It is an incredible sex assistant. Unfortunately, if you do drink too much, you will not remember the great sex afterwards. So good luck at striking the perfect balance!

Its the real imported absinthe (It took a bit of research and about 3k to find the right brands), originally developed by witches in Switzerland. Bought by a company in France, then mass produced, thus creating availability to artists who used it to create remarkable pieces. Then banned by muggles. ha !
