Bunny's cameo - July 8, 2008

As you may or may not already know, my friends Tucker and Nils are making a film full of filthy adventures. I've read the script, and though I'm clearly a fan, I have to say it was completely hilarious, and if you don't go see the movie, you're a masochist.

I'm supposed to be making a cameo appearance within the backdrop of a scene. This cameo involved me posing passed out on a couch with an empty bottle of Tequila in my hand. I'm not much of an actress, but something about that character seemed familiar to me. Something in me said, "I understand that girl. I can get inside her. I see her motivations." Piece o' cake.

Except, tonight, Tucker calls me and says, "We have to give you a line. It doesn't make sense if we don't."

Wha...what? I have to say a line? In a movie? In front of a camera? Wha...what?

I don't even let Aunt Judy take my picture at the labor day picnic. I run away or grab the camera like Sean Penn. I nearly had to walk a red carpet once. I planned to run it, until I found a rear entrance. I am woefully unqualified to say a line in a movie, even if it is a simple two word retort.

I've found myself wandering around my humble abode all evening saying the line. Word 1, word 2. Over and over. It's just two words. It's not a whole line, like: "These pretzels are makin' me thirsty," or anything.

Awwww, Bunny! They shouldn't have done that to you.

That line's not going to be any good now because you're so stressed over it. What they should have done was wait until you were on the set and gotten comfortable with the process and the people so your true Bunny-self was showing, and then say, "You're too quiet, Bunny, say something."

And then, because you're feeling comfortable and fun and maybe a little drunk, you come up with the perfect adlib, cuz you are the smart and funny queen of spontaneity. It'd probably be something about your colon, but it'd be priceless.

That's the secret to getting cinema magic out of a camera shy Bunny. That or planting hidden cameras in your bedroom.

I am so excited for this movie. You and Tucker's cameos are going to be great. Don't worry about the words, hon...like you said, you can get into the character's motivations pretty damn well.

If all else fails, drink some of the Tequila and hope for the best.

Two words? You can do it! Given the state of the character you're playing I'd suspect they are two words you are familiar with. When I'm in that condition my vocabulary is usually reduced to two words. f**k off,f**k you,eat sh*t,hell yes,hell no, blow me...etc. The list goes on and on.
The two words you utter could evoke such strong emotions from the audience you'll get an Oscar Nomination. Who knows?

How about "Fuck off Tucker!"? I think it has a certain je n'e sais quoi about it.. A special flare.... And it speaks from the heart.... Adds a certain comedic affect, and the dialog is perfect and wouldn't throw you too far off... Give it a try.. See how it flows.... Best of luck.. You can doooooooooooooooooooooooo eit!!!!

Bunny, come back! I can't wait 'til you come back and give us a new blog entry. Oh, and of course you'll be just fine at your cameo acting appearance. You've got the natural gift of sensitivity and intuition which are specific attributes of all true artists, and so therefore, you're armed with an edge that so many others lack.
