My buddy Jeri - June 28, 2007

(Printer Friendly Version)

I'd like to tell you guys a little bit about my new friend Jeri. You see, Jeri is an AmStaff, which is PC speak for the shit-upon breed named Pitbull, whose image has been murdered by stupid, stupid, retarded, brainless, nutless, craven, worthless fuckers. Jeri escaped his stupid, nutless, piece of shit owner's home with only a few cuts and scrapes. However, he has a profound loathing for other dogs, because his stupid, nutless, piece of shit owner taught him to fight other dogs from puppyhood. Now Jeri is living with a totally cute girl I met at Starbucks, and she is looking to place him in a nice (dogless) home.

I can't tell you what a sweetheart this guy is. He's about 75 pounds and has no idea. He thinks he's a lap dog, and all he wants to do is cuddle and play.

If you're interested in adopting Jeri, email me for his foster mommy's information.

Bunny, I have seen the effects of worthless breeders and bad pet owners from working at a Veterinary Hospital for four years. I have seen it all, as much as it is not the dogs fault to be raised in such a terrible enviroment and taught bad manners, bad habits, and bad attitudes, unfortunatley alot of foster dogs, especially the aggresive breeds, pits, rotties, german shepards, etc.. can't get over there social shortcomings and are the majority of dog bite cases and dog attacks. As the proud owner of two gorgeous Rotties, I can attest that it is in the manner of training and raising, so what I am trying to get at is this, some of these "foster" moms are willing to give these dogs away to anyone with a fenced in yard and no other pets, they dont formally train them, or give the new pet owners cautionary advice. They tell them "just keep them away from other dogs, and they will be great pets." These "foster" moms or "foster" dads, should have some formal knowledge on training and formal experince, and having a dog since they were two and going to dog parks isnt going to cut it. So Handle the rescue dogs with Caution.

Who else is for making Michael Vick* fight some big, burly Russian Neo-Nazis in a cage every day for the rest of his life?

Oh, and castrate him. You totally have to castrate him.

*And all the other dipshits too. That's disgusting, and you don't get to do it and not face the punishment.

It breaks my heart whenever I hear about unloved pitbulls. Maybe you can use your kickboxing abilities to personally dropkick a hole in the head of every bastard who abuses their pups.

Actually, AmStaff is a recognised separate breed from Pitbull. They have been bred to be physically identical to pitbulls, but for the last 50 years chosen for temperament so as to be a lot more even-tempered & big sweeties! I had a blue Amstaff back home... he was the most lovely & gentle dog. x

Kristin brought up good points - I'm a vet student with a particular interest in behavior. Any animal that has shown signs of aggression for any reason will need expert handling and training to prevent any displays of aggression or accidental injuries in the future.

I wish I could come up with an even more accurate description of Michael Vick, but "piece of shit" really does sum it up perfectly.

I have a 108 pound (no, she's not overweight - she's very tall) German Shepherd female. We found her through a breeder who breeds them for size and temperment. She's a very relaxed, mellow dog, and after six months of training with our local "Dog Whisperer," she is the perfect family pet.

Just my two cents? Pit Bulls have earned a horrible reputation for several reasons, crappy owners being paramount. But let's not forget that they have been bred for aggression for generations, and while that isn't their "fault" it still points to dogs that are inherently violent and that have a disproportionate history compared to other breeds of unprovoked attacks. Back in my working days we saw a lot of cases come through the D.A.'s office involving people who had been attacked by a pitbull they didn't even see coming at them.

Jeri looks like a great dog. Good luck with your placement!
